About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice while preparing for future roles as a pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining experience across pharmacy operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams, ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, and delivering high-quality patient care.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at every workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide empathetic care to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes.
- Complete basic inventory tasks, such as processing medication deliveries and cycle counts.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations, where allowed by law and supported by training.
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Willingness to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
