About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while you assist the pharmacy team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Follow company standard operating procedures at every workstation.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication changes.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Perform inventory activities like cycle counts and returns.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations in the market is preferred.
