About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to ensure safe, accurate, and prompt prescription fulfillment while developing your skills for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide patient care by offering immunizations, point-of-care testing, and educating patients on vaccine importance.
- Facilitate patient interactions by fielding medical questions, taking telephonic prescriptions, and calling prescribers for clarification.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, solving problems, and soliciting medical history.
- Perform inventory tasks such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and managing returns.
- Coach and mentor pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling and travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive finger movements.
- Strong communication, active listening, and mathematical reasoning skills.
