About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. You will help the pharmacy team ensure that operations run smoothly and that patients receive safe, accurate, and timely care.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations like production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing compassionate care.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted by law.
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and participate in Key Learning Experiences.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
