About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences to prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. This role involves working under the direction of a preceptor to gain an overview of store, district, and regional operations.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for safe, accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences with empathy and care.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing deliveries and cycle counts.
- Deliver patient services including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Prepare and administer vaccines and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Remain flexible for scheduling needs and travel to other store locations as required.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong communication, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain upright for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
