About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering compassionate care and solving patient problems.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and contact prescribers for clarification or medication changes.
- Provide coaching and training to team members while sharing best practices.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stock.
- Support immunizations by educating patients, reviewing patient information, and monitoring for adverse reactions where permissible.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws regarding patient safety, privacy, and controlled substance recordkeeping.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance including nights and weekends.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with active listening abilities.
- Mathematical reasoning skills to solve problems regarding prescription dispensing.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly between them.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach, stretch, and grasp items.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
- Close visual acuity for transcribing, reading, and visual inspection of small parts.
