About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams while developing the skills necessary to transition into a Pharmacist role.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on the brand promise.
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and time with district leaders.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately by following workflow procedures at every workstation.
- Assist with pharmacy operations and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures.
- Counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong attention and focus, with the ability to pivot quickly between tasks.
- Effective communication skills, including active listening and verbal clarity.
- Mathematical reasoning skills to solve problems regarding prescription dispensing.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
