About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing an overview of store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and patients receive accurate, safe, and prompt care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and participate in key learning experiences.
- Fill patient prescriptions accurately and safely.
- Follow company standard operating procedures at all pharmacy workstations.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and assist with immunization services where permitted.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions while documenting patient information.
- Provide caring service and contribute to a safe, inclusive team environment.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
