About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role involves completing a comprehensive training roadmap to gain experience in store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team in delivering safe and accurate care while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap including key learning experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations, including prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Provide patient care by counseling patients, answering medical questions, and soliciting medical history under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Perform inventory tasks such as stocking medications and completing cycle counts.
- Deliver health services including point-of-care testing and immunizations, provided you obtain the necessary Technician Immunizer status.
- Educate patients on vaccine importance and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to other pharmacy team members.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive finger movements.
- Capacity to pivot between tasks, maintain focus, and solve math problems related to prescription dispensing.
- Ability to travel to various store locations within the market as needed.
