About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for the responsibilities of a Pharmacist. This role involves gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations while supporting the pharmacy team to deliver safe and accurate patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment and workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Provide empathetic patient care and customer service, including resolving patient problems.
- Offer counseling and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide coaching and training to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and performing cycle counts.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and company standard operating procedures.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for or respond to adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
