About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position provides hands-on experience across store, district, and regional operations under the direction of a preceptor.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences through empathy.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Handle telephonic prescriptions and contact prescribers to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Complete training and licensure requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to complete required training within designated timeframes.
- Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, mathematical reasoning, and problem resolution.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
