About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gain exposure to store and regional operations, and prepare for future pharmacist responsibilities. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to support pharmacy team operations and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams in daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow protocols at all workstations.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and assist with medication changes where permitted.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, upon completion of required training.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Actively seek opportunities to expand clinical knowledge and provide coaching to team members.
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and travel to other stores within the market as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Strong focus, attention to detail, and the ability to pivot between tasks quickly.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, mathematical reasoning, and problem resolution.
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods, reach overhead, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified and proficiency in Microsoft Suite are preferred.
