About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role focuses on developing your clinical and operational skills in preparation for a future Pharmacist position. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, participate in key learning experiences, and gain an overview of pharmacy operations at the store, district, and regional levels.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and follow all company SOPs at every workstation.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and call prescribers to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and returns.
- Maintain compliance with all laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for or respond to adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market as needed.
