About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap to gain experience in pharmacy operations while preparing for a future role as a Pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and contribute to a team focused on safe, accurate, and caring patient service.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly and safely.
- Follow standard operating procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off workstations.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to pharmacy team members as you gain experience.
- Complete basic inventory tasks, such as putting away deliveries and managing cycle counts.
- Deliver health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on vaccines, prepare and administer them, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Demonstrate empathy and care in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations in the market as needed.
