About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This program provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while you work under the direction of a preceptor.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation.
- Provide caring service and offer to counsel or field medical questions when appropriate.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and call prescribers to clarify information.
- Maintain self-awareness and provide coaching to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including supporting immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to other locations within the market.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and professional standards.
What you'll need#
- Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or currently in the process of obtaining it.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly between them.
- Ability to use math to solve problems, such as determining prescription dosages.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
