About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by immersing you in pharmacy team workflows and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and gain hands-on experience in pharmacy operations.
- Assist the team to ensure prescriptions are filled safely, promptly, and accurately.
- Follow company SOPs and workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Perform basic inventory tasks, such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and processing medication deliveries.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status to educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members as your tenure increases.
- Deliver additional health care services, including point-of-care testing and offsite clinic staffing where permitted.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong focus and the ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Mathematical skills to solve prescription-related problems, such as calculating dosages and day supplies.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, part-time position located in Lodi, California.
- The role operates on a rolling term basis.
- You must be able to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks such as typing and reaching.
