About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap to gain experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while you support the pharmacy team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, accurately, and safely.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call them to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries and performing cycle counts.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Support immunization activities by monitoring for adverse reactions and documenting patient information.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
