About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role helps you gain an overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap including key learning experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services, including supporting immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinics.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market as needed.
