About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap that covers store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on developing your skills in preparation for a future Pharmacist position while supporting our pharmacy teams in delivering quality care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including counseling, fielding medical questions, and soliciting medical history under pharmacist supervision.
- Offer immunizations and other health services, including point-of-care testing, while educating patients and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members as you gain experience.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Active listening and clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to maintain close visual acuity for tasks like reading labels and viewing computer terminals.

- Travel: Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market as needed.
