About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to ensure operations run smoothly while preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Support the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and coordinate with prescribers for medication changes.
- Deliver health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
- Complete inventory tasks, including processing medication deliveries and cycle counts.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach overhead, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Strong focus, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
