About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while supporting our pharmacy teams in delivering safe and accurate care.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at all workstations.
- Provide service to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Coach, train, and mentor pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Deliver health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer clinical questions to the pharmacist.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
