About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams while preparing you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and pharmacy workflow at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide patient care by offering counseling, fielding medical questions under supervision, and taking telephonic prescriptions.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and work toward Technician Immunizer status.
- Manage inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Maintain high levels of self-awareness and provide coaching to team members to contribute to a safe and inclusive environment.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and controlled substance recordkeeping.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Strong focus and the ability to pivot quickly between tasks to ensure label accuracy.
- Proficient mathematical skills for calculating dosages, tablet counts, and days supply.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach overhead, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Close visual acuity for computer work and visual inspection of small parts.
