About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world pharmacy operations. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future Pharmacist role. This position involves gaining hands-on experience in store, district, and regional operations while supporting the pharmacy team to deliver high-quality patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and various key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow company standard operating procedures and workflow protocols for production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service by solving patient problems and creating personalized moments.
- Offer immunizations, counsel patients, and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and returns.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient safety and privacy.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly between responsibilities to meet patient needs.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening and the ability to interact effectively with patients.
- Mathematical proficiency for calculating prescription dosages and supplies.
- Ability to identify challenging interactions and determine the best course of action.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive manual tasks.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Preferred: Ability to become immunization certified and proficiency in Microsoft Suite.

- Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.75 per hour.
- Travel: Ability to work in your home store and across the market in other locations as needed.
