About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a Pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap that covers pharmacy operations at the store, district, and regional levels. This position focuses on building clinical and technical skills through hands-on experience and Key Learning Experiences (KLEs).
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and pharmacy workflow procedures for production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service and patient counseling, including taking telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarifying medication changes.
- Deliver patient health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, including obtaining Technician Immunizer status.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members to share best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market as needed.
