About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school learning into real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy operations, ensuring patient safety, and gaining experience with store, district, and regional workflows. You will operate as part of the pharmacy team to deliver caring service and contribute to a safe, inclusive culture.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams in delivering the brand promise and following standard operating procedures.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
