About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations while preparing you for a future Pharmacist role.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Provide service to patients, including counseling and fielding medical questions.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Actively seek opportunities to expand your clinical and technical knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between duties, and confirm prescription accuracy.
- Mathematical skills to calculate dosages and day supply.
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Preferred: Ability to become immunization certified and proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
