About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing an overview of store, district, and regional operations. You will contribute to a safe and inclusive environment while assisting the pharmacy team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures at all workstations.
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register.
- Counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for or respond to adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
