About the role#
This is a part-time Pharmacy Intern position designed for students to apply their pharmacy school education in a real-world practice setting. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to gain hands-on experience in pharmacy operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. This role involves rotating through various pharmacy workstations and completing a comprehensive training roadmap.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment to ensure accuracy and safety.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and processing medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching to team members and maintain high self-awareness.
- Support immunizations and patient health services where permissible by law.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences through empathetic and caring service.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least one year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
