About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future Pharmacist role. This position involves gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations while assisting the pharmacy team in delivering safe and accurate patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
- Follow company SOPs at each workstation and adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by providing caring service at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and collect patient information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong communication, mathematical reasoning, and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach overhead, stoop, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Close visual acuity for tasks such as reading and inspecting small parts.
