About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap to gain experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while you support pharmacy teams in delivering quality care to patients.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow company standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide patient care by offering immunizations, point-of-care testing, and educating patients about vaccines.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions while documenting patient information.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication changes.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and putting away deliveries.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to team members.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong mathematical reasoning, problem resolution, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
