About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations as you prepare for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care during interactions.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where allowed.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing where allowable.
- Support immunization efforts by educating patients and monitoring for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Flexibility to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
