About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences. This role focuses on preparing you for a future Pharmacist position by providing hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams in delivering patient care and ensuring pharmacy operations run smoothly.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Process telephonic prescriptions and communicate with prescribers to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Assist with immunizations and other patient services, including educating patients and documenting information.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns, and medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and training to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company SOPs regarding safety and privacy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
