About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your pharmacy school education and real-world practice. This role focuses on preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist through a structured training roadmap. You will gain hands-on experience by working alongside pharmacy teams to manage store, district, and regional operations. You will be expected to maintain a growth mindset, provide empathetic care to patients, and contribute to a safe, inclusive environment.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and time with district leadership.
- Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly by following company SOPs and workflow procedures.
- Fill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide patient care by offering to counsel, fielding medical questions under pharmacist supervision, and taking telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Assist with basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Educate patients on vaccines, support immunization services where permissible, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws regarding pharmacy practice and patient privacy.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to complete training within a designated timeframe.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong focus, attention to detail, and the ability to pivot quickly between tasks.
- Ability to use math to solve pharmacy-related problems, such as calculating supply and dosage.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
