About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap to gain a comprehensive overview of pharmacy operations. This role focuses on developing your skills to prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by providing empathetic care and support.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Deliver health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted by law.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status, educate patients about vaccines, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly between responsibilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical reasoning ability to solve problems related to prescription dispensing.
- Customer service skills and the ability to resolve problems effectively.
