About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing an overview of store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and patients receive accurate, safe, and prompt care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap.
- Operate pharmacy workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Provide empathetic care and contribute to positive patient experiences.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts and restocking.
- Support immunizations where permissible, including educating patients and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws plus company policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
