About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to build your skills in pharmacy operations and patient care. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will gain experience across store and district operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences.
- Follow company SOPs at every workstation, including production, pick-up, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to other pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory tasks like cycle counts and processing deliveries.
- Deliver patient services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Preference for 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and travel to different store locations as needed.
