About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position involves gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations under the direction of a preceptor. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and patients receive accurate, timely care.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by providing empathetic service and solving patient problems.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and collect medical history under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and communicate with prescribers to clarify orders.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
- Deliver patient health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted by law.
- Complete necessary training and licensure to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market as needed.
- 1+ years of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
