About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role focuses on gaining hands-on experience with pharmacy operations while preparing for the responsibilities of a Pharmacist. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and safely while providing caring service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer counseling and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries and cycle counts.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
- Remain flexible for scheduling needs and travel to other store locations within the market.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within a designated timeframe.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong skills in mathematical reasoning, problem resolution, and communication.
- Ability to maintain focus and pivot quickly between tasks.
