About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of pharmacy operations while you gain hands-on experience and prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers when necessary.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and managing cycle counts.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Complete Technician Immunizer status training and provide immunizations where permitted by law.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Travel to other store locations within the market as business needs require.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- At least one year of related experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong mathematical reasoning, communication, and problem-resolution skills.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach overhead, stoop, and perform repetitive finger movements.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently.
