About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role helps you develop the skills necessary to transition into a Pharmacist position while supporting daily pharmacy operations.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Manage basic inventory tasks such as processing medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks like lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to solve problems in a team environment.
- Preference for candidates with 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Preference for candidates with proficiency in Microsoft Suite and the ability to become immunization certified.
