About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs). This role focuses on developing your skills in preparation for a pharmacist position while supporting pharmacy operations and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while following company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assist the pharmacy team with workflow procedures at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns, and stocking deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Availability for regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
