About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences to prepare for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position involves working under the direction of a preceptor to gain an overview of store, district, and regional operations. You will contribute to a safe and inclusive environment while assisting the pharmacy team in delivering care to patients.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Assist patients with empathy and care, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and facilitate medication changes with prescribers.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory tasks such as cycle counts and returns-to-stock.
- Support immunization services and point-of-care testing, including acting as a Technician Immunizer where permitted.
- Remain flexible to meet scheduling needs and travel to other stores in the market as required.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong focus, communication skills, and mathematical reasoning.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and maintain physical mobility for extended periods.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Preferred: Ability to become immunization certified and proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
