About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a pharmacist. This position offers hands-on experience in pharmacy operations while you work under the direction of a preceptor. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while contributing to a safe and inclusive environment.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap including key learning experiences.
- Assist pharmacy teams with safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Apply pharmacy school learning to daily operations.
- Demonstrate empathy and care when interacting with patients.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and facilitate medication changes where allowed by state regulation.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and putting away medication deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company standard operating procedures.
- Support immunizations and patient health services where permissible and certified.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Availability for regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
