About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience in pharmacy operations. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to deliver safe, accurate, and caring service to patients while you develop your skills for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment at all workstations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing compassionate care.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit information on medical history under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify information when needed.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and stocking medication deliveries.
- Actively seek opportunities to expand your clinical and technical knowledge.
- Support immunizations by preparing and administering vaccines, educating patients, and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Remain flexible with your schedule and voluntarily travel to other stores in the market to work shifts as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
