About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient prescription fulfillment while developing your professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences.
- Support pharmacy teams with prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform inventory tasks such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions for immunizations.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and pharmacy SOPs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
