About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role focuses on gaining hands-on experience in pharmacy operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will gain an overview of store, district, and regional operations while contributing to a safe and inclusive team environment.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Field medical questions and offer counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform inventory tasks such as cycle counts and returns-to-stock.
- Deliver patient services including immunizations and point-of-care testing where allowed.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws along with company policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market is preferred.
- At least one year of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
