About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing you for a future Pharmacist position. You will contribute to a safe and inclusive environment while supporting pharmacy teams in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to other pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns, and putting away medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions for immunizations.
- Voluntarily travel to other stores in the market to work shifts as business needs require.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in mathematical reasoning to solve prescription-related calculations.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
- 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
