About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role focuses on gaining hands-on experience in pharmacy operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled safely and accurately while providing caring service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and participate in Key Learning Experiences.
- Support pharmacy teams with prescription fulfillment by following standard operating procedures and workflow protocols.
- Deliver caring customer service, including fielding medical questions and offering to counsel patients under pharmacist supervision.
- Handle telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and putting away deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
- Deliver patient health services, such as immunizations and testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
