About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams, ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, and developing the skills necessary for a future Pharmacist position.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing compassionate care.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and contact them to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permissible by law.
- Remain flexible with scheduling and travel to other store locations within the market as business needs require.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
