About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world pharmacy operations. Under the guidance of a preceptor, you will complete a structured training roadmap to gain experience in store, district, and regional workflows. This role focuses on developing your clinical skills and preparing you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at all workstations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering empathetic service and fielding medical questions.
- Handle telephonic prescriptions and communicate with prescribers to clarify orders.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory tasks, such as stocking medication deliveries and performing cycle counts.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws regarding patient privacy and controlled substance dispensing.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to complete training within the required timeframe.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly, utilize active listening, and pivot between tasks quickly.
- Capacity to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market as needed.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
Location & details#
- This is a part-time, on-site role based in Michigan.
- The position follows a rolling term schedule.
